About the Company

BlackHen is the second grandchild of Felicia Wilson and Chef Darryl Harmon and was set to open just a few doors down from Amina. Its goal was to provide a BYOD option with very unique style of gourmet chicken and other soul, food items primarily in the evenings and late nights on weekends.

The Situation

After creating a brand, the goal was to visually redo the aesthetics of the entire space from outdoor signage to every flat surface wall inside.

The Strategy

Develop a solid and unique brand that would extend into every fiber of the structure from the ground up.

While a logo is vital for a brand, it is not all that a brand is. A brand is a business card handed out to consumers and investors, a menu handed out to customers, It is the consistent color palette on those those materials, as well as the website, that evoke familiarity and distinct emotions upon viewing them.

Create and Aesthetic System

After creating the logo, the entire space was evaluated and taken into consideration of how to best extend the brand attributes effectively to create an experience.

The Illustrations

As an extension of the overall brand, the logo was personified in the form of "Boss Chicks" with humanoid lead hands that represented modern, empowered business women in various aspects of life.

The vision and goal of this brand called for a simplistic yet stylish wordmark that was specifically designed to establish its status and quality. A complete rollout of hybrid formats of the main logo was created, giving the Brand flexibility to appear dynamically and clearly recognizable in various scenarios.
